IN BRIEF : Garden Gala Ends Year of Church Celebration
First Congregational Church of Los Angeles, 540 S. Commonwealth Ave., the oldest Protestant church in Los Angeles, will mark the end of its yearlong 125th anniversary celebration with a garden party on Sunday.
The festivities will begin at 11 a.m. with a traditional worship service and music by the First Church Cathedral Choir, organist Lloyd Holzgraf and a brass sextet.
Nine community outreach booths will be set up around the church’s forecourt and Mayflower Courtyard, spotlighting various church-related functions. Box lunches will be served in Stuart Hall from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Fee is $6. Advance reservations for the box lunches are advised. For reservations, call First Church at (213) 385-1341.
