Countywide : Tillotson Resigns From Planning Panel

Share

Haydee Tillotson on Thursday resigned from the Orange County Planning Commission after serving only three months, saying she wanted to avoid conflicts that could hurt her campaign to succeed Harriett M. Wieder on the County Board of Supervisors.

“Although the election is a very long way away, I want to avoid even the slightest appearance of a conflict of interest,” Tillotson said.

Wieder, who appointed Tillotson to the Planning Commission, has said that she will not run for reelection and that she hopes Tillotson will win her seat in the June, 1994, election.

Tillotson, 54, of Huntington Beach and her husband own a property management company, Tillotson Enterprises. She formerly served as chairwoman of the Huntington Beach Chamber of Commerce and was a member of the Orange County Commission on the Status of Women.

Tillotson said she is running for supervisor as a pro-business candidate. “Business is underrepresented in all phases of government,” she said. “I want to be a voice for the business community.”

Huntington Beach Councilman Jim Silva has also announced his candidacy for Wieder’s 2nd District seat.
