MOORPARK : Rent Law Extended for Unsold Mobile Homes

Share

Less than two months after Moorpark voters approved controlling rent increases on the lots under mobile homes that are sold, the City Council has decided to extend the existing ordinance regulating rents on unsold units.

The council voted 4 to 0 Wednesday to extend the ordinance restricting rent increases on mobile-home lots to no more than the rate of inflation or 5% per year, whichever is less.

Established in 1988, the ordinance had been set to expire July 31, but city officials extended it indefinitely.

The law approved by voters in April says that when mobile homes are sold, trailer parks can raise the rents on the lots by no more than the rate of inflation--as measured by the consumer price index--or 5%, whichever is less.
