From Times Staff and Wire Reports

A quarter of a century after his death, Robert F. Kennedy’s words pierced the evening at a solemn candlelight Mass of remembrance. “Let us believe again we can do better,” said President Clinton, echoing the phrase Kennedy once used to challenge the nation, as thousands of people gathered on a hillside at Virginia’s Arlington National Cemetery, where Kennedy lies. Kennedy was shot on June 5, 1968, on the night of his victory in the California Democratic primary. He died the following day. He was 42.
