Beverly Hills Fan Co., a Woodland Hills supplier of ceiling fans, said its fiscal second-quarter net income rose 48%, despite a 13% decline in revenue.

For the three months that ended April 30, the company posted net income of $207,000, compared with $140,000 a year earlier.

Revenue for the latest quarter fell to $2.5 million from $2.9 million.

For the six months, Beverly Hills Fan posted an 85% drop in net income, to $44,000 from $303,000 a year earlier.

Revenue fell 31%, to $3.3 million from $4.8 million.

The company blamed the steep drop in its sales and profits for the first half of its fiscal year on an unusually cool summer in the eastern part of the country last year and “general economic conditions.”

Beverly Hills Fan said it now has a sizable backlog of orders and is very optimistic about future operating results.
