Seven sixth-graders are accused of plotting for months against their teacher--dumping chemicals in her iced tea, trying to trip her on stairs and taking weapons to school--all because she tried to discipline them, police said Monday.

The 12- and 13-year-old students from Georgetown Elementary School were arrested Friday on disorderly conduct charges and released to their parents.

Judge June Jones said they could face a charge of conspiracy to commit murder. The four boys and three girls were not identified because of their ages.

The students are accused of conspiring “to do away with (their teacher) because she wanted to make them behave,” Detective Maj. John Wood said.

The unidentified teacher, who has taught at Georgetown for more than 20 years, learned about the alleged scheme about a week ago, principal Carol Hutcheson said.

Hutcheson said the seven arrested had discipline problems.

One girl is accused of bringing chemicals from her home chemistry set to slip into the teacher’s tea. A boy is charged with bringing a handgun to school in his book bag. He is also accused of bringing a knife to school.

The complaints also accuse the students of trying to trip the teacher on stairs. She was not harmed.
