MOM WITH MOXIE: Viviana Guerra was tired of the hoodlums who sought control of her North Hollywood street. While others cowered, she reported troublemakers to police. Eventually, a man was charged with making terrorist threats against Guerra, and on Friday he was convicted (B1). Said the jury foreman: “We commend her courage.”

MONEY TALKS: When members of Congress give speeches, they can no longer pocket the proceeds. The money has to go to charity. So are members staying home these days? Not exactly. . . . Local Reps. Henry Waxman, Howard Berman and Carlos Moorhead and their wives have accepted a number of excursions--from the same interest groups that used to bankroll trips to the lectern (A20 and B4). MATCHLESS: Rafael Huerta of Chatsworth High (above) completed a perfect season Friday, defeating Arthur Tombakian of Marshall in the championship match of the city tennis finals. . . . Huerta, a senior, finished 28-0. He also won 1992 City singles title. (C14)
