Nation IN BRIEF : TEXAS : Flooding Expected in Tropical Storm

The season’s first tropical storm, Arlene, was expected to hit the southwest Texas coast early this morning, probably causing flooding from high tides and heavy rains, officials said. The storm formed near the Yucatan Peninsula, dumping heavy rains over eastern Mexico on Thursday. Mexican officials said 6,000 people on the peninsula were left homeless by floods.
