Dodge Viper Production Hits Snag: Chrysler Corp. and Rockwell International Corp. said a defect in a high-tech molding process will slow production of the sports car. Just 200 Vipers were built in 1992 and about 700 have been built this year, but plans to increase production to 3,000 in 1993 have been scrapped. Defects in the car’s hood appeared during a manufacturing process that combines glass fibers and pressure-injected resins in a mold, the companies said. None of the defective hoods reached customers.
