Pinkerton Security to Acquire GM Operation

Pinkerton Security & Investigation Services in Van Nuys has agreed to acquire the internal uniformed security operations business and assets of General Motors’ U.S. Security Operations.

Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Pinkerton Security & Investigation Services is the name under which Pinkerton’s Inc. does business.

Under the agreement, Pinkerton will provide security to GM locations around the United States for six years. Pinkerton said it would offer jobs to all of GM’s 2,000 security personnel in the United States. It estimated that its revenue from the security agreement would be about $70 million in the first year. Pinkerton’s 1992 revenue was $703 million.

The transaction is due to be completed by July 26.

Pinkerton previously acquired the security operations at GM’s Hughes Aircraft Co. subsidiary and at the GM auto plant in Monterrey, Mexico.
