You think the questioning is tough for attorney general nominees? Before she was allowed to adopt a cat from Petville USA in West L.A., Diane Bowen underwent an unexpectedly thorough interview.

“Are you married?” she was asked at one point.

Bowen expressed surprise at the question, responding, “Well, it wasn’t because my husband kicked the dog.”

Cotten was noticed at a fair by two women who identified him as the fugitive he portrayed--David Adams, a Tennessee con man. Cotten was cleared after being taken downtown to police headquarters.

“When we approached him, he said he was on ‘America’s Most Wanted,’ ” said Sgt. Jeff DeBusk. That apparently led to confusion over whether Cotten was Adams.

The actor, who has blond hair, wore a brown wig and a mustache for the role. But then Adams has also been known to use fake IDs and disguises. Adams is evidently a pretty good actor in his own right.
