Lionel H. Joubert, 65, community leader and educator for 35 years. A native of Washington, La., Joubert earned degrees at Southern University, USC and UCLA. He retired in 1988 as principal of Carnegie Junior High School after 35 years with the Los Angeles Unified School District, teaching or administering the Santa Fe, Gompers, Horace Mann, Jordan, Curtiss, Crenshaw and Carnegie schools. Joubert was active in the National Assn. for the Advancement of Colored People, the Urban League, the Carson Coordinating Council, the Council of Black Administrators, the UCLA Deans Council, the USC Educare Society and the Exceptional Children’s School Advisory Council. On Wednesday in Los Angeles of congestive heart failure.
