Residents will pay more for city ambulance services, golf, park kitchens and picnic shelters beginning July 1.

In an attempt to balance a $56-million budget, the City Council unanimously decided Tuesday to increase 95 city fees and create 13 new ones.

The new fees include a $100 charge to business owners who want to put up new signs, a charge to homeowners if police have to respond more than once to a noisy party, and a $2 parking fee at Wilderness Park, 10999 Little Lake Road, on weekends and holidays.

Residents who do not pay an annual subscriber fee for paramedic services will be charged $285 to be picked up by an ambulance, up from $248. Most golf course fees were increased. Beginning in July, golfers using the city-owned Rio Hondo Country Club, 10627 Old River School Road, will pay $16 to play 18 holes on a weekday, up from $12. Weekend games of 18 holes will cost $20, up from $16.

City officials expect to raise an additional $25,000 annually for the general fund, said Assistant City Manager Lee Powell.
