Elisa Godinez Rodriguez, 88, first lady of Cuba when she was married to Fulgencio Batista. Mrs. Rodriguez married Batista in 1933, seven years before he was elected president of Cuba. She was first lady from 1940 to 1944, and divorced Batista in 1945. He assumed the presidency for a second time in a 1952 coup but was overthrown by Fidel Castro in 1959.
