President Clinton plans to name New York City lawyer Jo Ann Harris to run the Justice Department’s criminal division, Atty. Gen. Janet Reno said Friday.

Apart from her private practice, Harris also worked for the independent special prosecutor investigating the Ronald Reagan-era corruption scandal at the Department of Housing and Urban Development and taught at Pace University Law School. Harris, 60, would be an assistant attorney general.

Reno also said Clinton nominated Eduardo Gonzalez, the chief of the Tampa, Fla., Police Department for more than a year, to be the director of the U.S. Marshals Service.
