MOORPARK : Reagan Library Offers Residents Free Tours

The Ronald Reagan Presidential Library will participate in the city of Moorpark’s 10th anniversary celebration by allowing Moorpark residents to tour the library free of charge from July 1-4, officials said.

Visitors must prove their residence by showing a driver’s license, phone or utility bill or other item that includes their name and address, said library spokeswoman Stefanie Salata.

“We’re always looking to acknowledge the community and this seemed like a good way to do it,” Salata said.

The library is featuring an exhibit titled “Our Presidents: From Washington to Clinton,” which includes more than 300 items of presidential memorabilia from private and public collections throughout the country.

On Sunday, a family celebration will be held in the library courtyard from noon to 5 p.m. The event will include food, music and entertainment.

Regular fees are $4 for general admission and $2 for senior citizens age 62 and up. Children age 15 and under are admitted for free, Salata said. The library is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and noon to 5 p.m. on Sundays.

Moorpark Mayor Paul Lawrason said he hoped residents would take advantage of the chance to visit the library for free.

“This is an ideal opportunity for anyone who has not been to the library or wishes to go again,” Lawrason said. “I intend to be up there myself.”
