Behind The Scenes : Elegant Subjects Become Tropics of Conversation

Two hundred supporters of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation attended the “J’Maican Me Dance, J’Maican Me Krazy” event Sunday near the water at Newport Dunes in Newport Beach. The invitation called for “tropical elegance,” which was interpreted as everything from men in walking shorts and comical cummerbunds to women in bustiers and sleek sarongs.

Comfort was the key to this event, where guests ate Alan Greeley’s Caribbean cuisine at red-linen picnic tables placed close enough to the shore to encourage some to kick off their shoes and dig their toes in the sand. Others kept their shoes on to dance as the sun set to Calypso sounds by Hugo Jojo & Gino G.
