METAL VIEWS: Metallica, ending more than a year and a half of touring with shows in Belgium this weekend, is making plans for a live video-CD package for possible release by Christmas. The set would include videocassettes and CDs, both capturing the complete, nearly three-hour set from the recent tour, plus a half hour of highlights from the 1988 “. . . and Justice for All” shows.

Band manager Peter Mensch says the CDs will only be available in the boxed set with the videos. He also says that after completing this project, he expects the band to take a considerable break before beginning work on the follow-up to the 6-million-selling 1991 album “Metallica.”
