Orange County sheriff’s deputies arrested a woman who refused to sign a speeding ticket then led officers on a five-mile chase before she was taken into custody at her home, authorities said Thursday.

Wanda Alicia Koerner, 38, of Laguna Niguel was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of evading a peace officer, providing false identification and speeding.

Koerner was stopped for speeding at Camino Capistrano and Junipero Serra Road in San Juan Capistrano, said Sheriff’s Lt. Dick Olson.

When the deputy handed her a citation to sign, the woman threw it on the ground, rolled up her car window and sped away, Olson said.

The deputy chased Koerner until she reached her home on Brandon Avenue. There, she drove into her garage and pulled the door shut, Olson said.

However, deputies were let into the house by Koerner’s son and arrested the woman without further incident.

She was booked at the county intake/release center in Santa Ana and left after posting bail.

Koerner will be arraigned in Municipal Court at a later date.
