From Times Staff and Wire Reports

Fourteen people were injured in an especially bloody running of the bulls during Pamplona’s annual San Fermin Festival. Two Pamplona natives were gored as they bolted through the cobbled streets ahead of six fighting bulls and a herd of steers. Also, one animal hooked his horn on the belt of a runner and dragged him about 30 feet before the red sash snapped. Later, some runners slipped and caused a pileup in the street. The injuries brought to more than 40 the number injured in the first five runs of the festival.
