Vendor Chosen for National Wireless Web: The trade association for the cellular telephone industry selected Kansas City, Mo.-based Independent Telecommunications Network Inc. to build a new national signaling network that would allow cellular users to receive calls anywhere in the country. With existing technology, most cellular customers can place outgoing calls from any location using their wireless telephones but cannot receive calls if they travel to areas not served by their home-based cellular carrier. The signaling network is expected to be operational late this year.
