WOODLAND HILLS : Lotto Winner Has Work on His Mind

After turning in his winning ticket Friday for $6.8 million in the Super Lotto, Amir Falamaki of Woodland Hills went straight to work.

“I can’t just sit at home,” the 38-year-old video store manager said in a interview from the 20/20 Video store where he works in Thousand Oaks.

Falamaki learned he had the winning ticket Friday morning when he went out to buy coffee and checked the numbers. After bringing the ticket to the California Lottery’s Ventura office, he went to work at the video store, which he manages and partially owns.

According to lottery officials, Falamaki will receive $245,520 after taxes every year for the next 20 years.

“It feels good,” he said. “But I still haven’t gotten any of it, so I have no plans so far.”

Falamaki, who is married and has a young daughter, said he would probably take a long vacation to Hawaii or Germany, but would keep his job at the store. He added that winning the lottery will not change his life drastically, but will enable him to pay off debts and buy the house he now rents.
