Mexico Sells State-Owned Media: Mexico has sold its two television networks to private investors for about $640 million. The investor group, Radiotelevisora del Centro, submitted a bid 30% higher than its three other competitors, Mexico’s Finance Ministry said. The investors are led by radio station chain Grupo Radio Centro and consumer electronics chain Elektra S.A. The media selloff is part of President Carlos Salinas de Gortari’s privatization program.
