Girl Killed as Fans Rush Stage at Concert in Peru
Thousands of fans rushed the stage at a concert by Puerto Rican pop group Menudo, police said Sunday. A 13-year-old girl was killed and 300 people were injured.
Raquel Camuz was crushed against a metal barrier when fans began shoving each other to get nearer to the stage during Saturday night’s concert at Lima’s Lawn Tennis Club. She died in an ambulance.
Other fans were bruised when they fainted in the crush and were trampled. Nearly 200 needed oxygen, police said.
About 8,000 people attended the concert, the group’s second and final in Lima.
