Micropolis Posts Loss of $2.5 Million in Quarter

Micropolis Corp., a Chatsworth maker of disk drives, posted a loss of $2.5 million in its fiscal second quarter that ended June 25, in contrast to a profit of $5.2 million in the comparable period a year earlier.

Micropolis previously said it was struggling with a significant price erosion for the company’s disk drives. The loss came despite a 3% increase in quarterly revenue, to $107.5 million from $104.3 million a year earlier.

For the six months ended June 25, Micropolis reported a loss of $1.1 million on sales of $202.1 million. In the comparable period a year earlier, the company earned $7.9 million on sales of $202.6 million.
