Warhol Estate Valued at $220 Million

A dispute over the worth of the Andy Warhol estate ended Tuesday with an agreement putting its value at $220 million.

The agreement was reached between the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, the state attorney general and Frederick W. Hughes, the estate’s executor. The value of the estate, which includes films and paintings by Warhol as well as works of art he acquired, was independently appraised by Christie’s and Sotheby’s auction houses and Michael Friend, curator of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in Los Angeles.

Warhol died of a heart attack in 1987. He was 58.
