From Times Staff and Wire Reports

Azerbaijan suffered a humiliating military blow as its Defense Ministry said the strategic town of Agdam had fallen to Armenian forces. The ministry said the Armenians had taken Agdam in a three-pronged offensive and were attacking a second key center, Fizuli. But Armenian presidential spokesman Aram Abramyan denied the report. He was quoted by the Snark news agency as saying that Armenians from the disputed territory of Nagorno-Karabakh were repelling Azerbaijani attacks but had not entered Agdam.
