UniCare Financial Corp.: The Irvine workers’ compensation insurance underwriter said its profit for the second quarter more than tripled from the comparable 1992 period. Earnings were $2.7 million, or 53 cents a share, up from $720,000, or 14 cents a share. Revenue was up 7% to $37 million from $34.5 million. Six-month profit totaled $5.2 million, or $1.03 a share, compared to income of $1.6 million, or 33 cents a share, for the comparable period of 1992. The 1992 figure includes a gain of $502,000 from an accounting change. Six-month revenue rose 7% to $73.2 million from $68.1 million.
