LAGUNA BEACH — Memorial services will be Friday for Inger Christina Chambers, a member of the historic Abel family of Laguna Beach, who died at a friend’s home Saturday after a long battle with cancer. She was 46.
Ms. Chambers’ grandfather, Carl Christian Abel, came to Laguna Beach in 1925 from his native Denmark. Abel was a builder of many homes still standing in Laguna Beach.
Abel’s sons, Christian Abel and the late Mogens Abel, followed in their father’s footsteps and became an architect and an artist, respectively.
Ms. Chambers, a Laguna Beach native, was the daughter of Inger Abel Chambers. She is survived by her uncle, Christian Abel; her brother, Jack Chambers of Laguna Beach; and her aunt, Bierta Abel of Washington state.
The memorial service will be at 7 p.m. Friday on the beach at Woods Cove, where Ms. Chambers spent many of her childhood years.
