Help Wanted Index Dips Slightly: Employment advertising in newspapers fell in June, another indication that the labor market remains weak, the Conference Board reported. The business research group’s seasonally adjusted Help Wanted Index fell to 97 in June, down three points from the May figure. A year ago, the June figure was 93. The index, calculated on a base of 100, is derived from a monthly assessment of employment ad volume in 51 newspapers nationwide and is considered a useful barometer of labor market conditions.
