Microsemi Corp.: The Santa Ana maker of custom semiconductor chips reported a 65% gain in profit for its third fiscal quarter. Earnings for the three months ended July 4 were $892,000, or 10 cents a share, up from $539,000, or 7 cents a share, for the same period a year earlier. Sales increased 60% to $31.5 million from $19.7 million. The company said the latest results included added revenue and related profit from an acquisition and the disposition of some operations. For the first three quarters of its fiscal year, the company’s profit was down 7% to $1.3 million, or 16 cents a share, from $1.4 million, or 19 cents a share, for the same period a year earlier. Nine-month revenue rose 57% to $94.0 million from $59.8 million.
