A Palestinian hijacker seeking revenge for Israel’s latest assault on Lebanon seized a U.N. school bus and rammed it into two Israeli government vehicles Monday, killing one official and injuring five, the army said.

The bus was hijacked in Gaza City just after the students got off, Arab reports and U.N. officials said. It belonged to the U.N. Relief and Works Agency, which administers relief to Palestinian refugees.

A gunman carrying explosives got on and forced the driver and four U.N. agency employees to ride to an isolated spot on a coastal road, Arab reports and agency officials said.

He then ordered all five off the bus and rammed it into a police van and a car from Israel’s military administration, employees of the U.N. agency said.

The hijacker fled, and the military sealed the area to search for him.

Yitzhak Amir, 43, a military administration employee, was killed, Israel Radio said.
