Datum Gets Oscillator Pact: Datum Inc. has received a contract from Mitec Ltd. in Australia for oscillators for the Intelsat VIII satellite system. The Anaheim company said the initial order of 26 oscillators is valued at $450,000. If Mitec exercises its other purchase options, revenue to Datum during the first year could total $850,000. The Intelsat VIII satellite is an international communications system using equipment jointly developed by Mitec and Martin Marietta Corp.’s Astro-Space division, designed to last for 10 years. Datum’s oscillators control the frequency of receivers and transmitters for satellite telecommunications. The company’s stock rose 12.5 cents in NASDAQ trading to close at $3.25 Tuesday.
