PRO FOOTBALL DAILY REPORT : RAMS : Conlan’s Hip Injury Is Not Serious

Linebacker Shane Conlan underwent a Magnetic Resonance Imaging test on his injured hip Tuesday, and Coach Chuck Knox said that the results were negative.

“He ought to be ready in a couple of days,” Knox said.

Wide receiver Todd Kinchen, who practiced for the first time Monday after undergoing knee surgery, extended himself further Tuesday without apparent problem. Wide receiver Phillip Bobo, however, was unable to work out after his knee reacted unfavorably to Monday’s practice.

Knox said starting cornerback Darryl Henley suffered a minor toe injury, and starting defensive tackle Marc Boutte had a groin injury.

The Rams lost linebacker Kevin Greene during the off-season and replaced him with former Charger linebacker Henry Rolling.

“He’s what we thought he was going to be and he has performed very well,” Knox said of Rolling. “He should be a big addition to our defensive team. He’s a veteran guy who has played . . . he knows the position . . . he’s a professional, knows how to prepare, knows how to practice . . . he can run, and he will hit you. He’s also pretty good in the pass coverage.”

The Rams released their “unofficial” depth chart for Saturday night’s exhibition opener against the Cardinals in Phoenix.

The team continues to list David Lang as its starting running back although he’s on crutches and is expected to be sidelined for three months. It also lists Cleveland Gary as a starting running back, although he is unsigned and absent from training camp.

Eric Buckley, meanwhile, has earned a mention as a third-team free safety. That’s not good, but it gets worse: The team misspelled his name.
