LETTER TO THE EDITOR : Tree Removal on Brand Boulevard

I am a 10-year-old resident of Glendale. I have lived here all my life. I am writing this letter to you because I don’t want the trees on Brand Boulevard to be cut down (Glendale Section, July 29).

Here’s why: First of all, I was driving down Brand with my parents today and I saw the store signs perfectly well. Also, the trees have already been pruned just so the store signs could be seen, so why cut them down?

Think of all the things trees do for us, like cleaning the air on smoggy days. We need a lot of trees in Los Angeles because boy do we have smoggy days here. Trees also give us nice shade on hot, burning days. Plus, it might ruin some animals’ homes such as bird nests.

So I hope that the tree cutters think about what they’re doing. Please don’t cut down Brand Boulevard’s trees!
