The Aug. 23 premiere of Propaganda Films’ “Kalifornia,” co-starring Brad Pitt and Juliette Lewis, will benefit the American Cinematheque’s Programming Fund, organization officials recently announced.

“Kalifornia,” the first feature film from music-video director Dominic Sena, is a suspense thriller about a graduate student (David Duchovny) who is writing a book on serial killers and picks up a young couple (Pitt and Lewis) on a road trip to famous murder sites. The film also stars Michelle Forbes as Duchovny’s photographer girlfriend.

Tickets to the premiere and reception at the Directors Guild are available for $50 through the American Cinematheque, (213) 461-9622. The film opens citywide Sept. 3.
