Film: Sources close to cable mogul Ted Turner downplayed reports in Daily Variety on Thursday that had him making a bid for New Line Cinema. Turner, who has been open about his desire to acquire a movie company, was previously linked to discussions with Castle Rock Entertainment, which produced “In the Line of Fire.” Sources said the Castle Rock talks are ongoing. Turner has held discussions with New Line, but the talks were described by sources as exploratory. New Line Chairman Robert Shaye could not be reached for comment. The independent production company recently released the hit film, “Menace II Society.”
