Mahony, a key backer of the program, and other religious and community leaders met with the county’s chief administrative officer, Harry Hufford, to try to iron out issues that would allow the county to release up to $2.9 million committed to the project. Hufford promised to draw up a contract to present to the Board of Supervisors by early September, a county spokeswoman said.
