In Brief
* * * Rocket From the Crypt, “Circa: Now!,” Interscope. The San Diego quintet’s second album (originally on tiny Homestead Records and now re-released by Interscope) is bursting with melodic, thick, gritty post-hard-core anthems, gruff vocals and suburban/blue-collar lyrics. Flailing saxophone and sing-along choruses throw the tight numbers into eternal partydom, making Rocket seem like rollicking goofballs instead of angry ex-punkers.
New albums are rated on a scale of one star (poor), two stars (fair), three stars (good) and four stars (excellent).
