Trade Surplus Surges: Taiwan’s trade surplus climbed 208% in July from a year earlier to $720 million, buoyed mainly by a fall in the Taiwan dollar, the Finance Ministry said. But its trade surplus with the United States, its largest export market, shrank 19.2% to $3.6 billion in the first seven months of 1993 from a year earlier. Total exports rose 5.4% from a year earlier to $7.26 billion in July, while imports fell 1.7% to $6.54 billion, the ministry said.
