Kaiser Gives $5,000 to AIDS Care Group
For the second year in a row, Kaiser Permanente awarded a $5,000 grant to AIDS Care as part of the company’s annual funding of organizations that help people with HIV.
The community service grant will help pay the salary of a case worker at a local agency that cares for people with AIDS and HIV.
AIDS Care is the only organization in Ventura County devoted to people infected with acquired immune deficiency syndrome and human immunodeficiency virus.
About one-third of AIDS Care’s funding comes from donations, Executive Director Edie Brown said. The agency has seen a record 160 clients this year, up from 90 at this time last year, Brown said.
“I’m very happy,” Brown said of receiving the grant. “You write these grant applications and you hope for the best.”
The organization’s case worker helps clients arrange housing and medical care, Brown said.
