West Valley : Cities Weigh New Trash Pact
The cities of Sierra Madre, Monrovia, Arcadia and Duarte are considering contracting with a single trash hauler and recycler next year in an attempt to save money.
The Sierra Madre City Council on Tuesday authorized a consultant to be hired by the four cities to aide them in selecting the hauler.
Assistant City Administrator Sean Joyce said if one hauler could service all the cities, the price of collection would probably drop.
A week before, the Monrovia council backed the plan by not renewing that city’s contract with its recycler Westco, despite a protest by union workers from the firm. Monrovia’s contract with the firm will end in June, 1994.
