COLLEGE FOOTBALL / DAILY REPORT : USC : He Had Appetite for Being a Tackle
North Carolina, USC’s opening opponent Aug. 29 at Anaheim Stadium, has a player who ate himself out of one position and into another.
Senior Ethan Albright was recruited in 1989 as a 210-pound tight end. Now, he is a 6-foot-6, 275-pound offensive tackle.
How did he get up to 275?
By eating four meals a day, one of which always included a six-egg omelet. He is fond of milk shakes, too. Extra thick.
“I got too big for tight end--it affected my speed,” Albright said. “So they moved me to tackle.”
What’s the best part about his new position?
“Having an unlimited diet,” he said. “Really, eating has been the fun part. I’ve gained 25 pounds in the last year and it’s really helped my strength.”
He hasn’t lost all his speed, though. The Tar Heels use him at center on punts.
