Two suspected gang members were arrested Thursday in connection with the attempted murder of a 25-year-old Garden Grove man in a gang-related shooting earlier this month, police said.

Francisco Sanchez, 20, and a 14-year-old male juvenile, both of Anaheim, are being held in the Aug. 13 attack on Alosio Fagamau Atonio.

Atonio was shot five times in the upper body as he sat in a truck on the 300 block of Kodiak Street. He survived and has since been released from a hospital, Anaheim Police Sgt. Craig Hunter said.

Jose Luis Pedrosa, 20, of Orange was arrested the night of the shooting on suspicion of attempted murder. Police allege he was the triggerman in the shooting, which stemmed from an argument.

Hunter said Sanchez and the minor were each arrested on suspicion of aiding and abetting in the crime.

“Although only one gun was used, other people can be arrested if they were there helping out,” he said.

The pair were among those arrested during an early-morning sweep conducted by police from Anaheim and Orange and the Orange County Probation Department.

Also arrested during the sweep were Wilfredo Sanchez, 18, on an unrelated misdemeanor arrest warrant, and Jose Carrillo, 18, for an alleged probation violation. Both are Anaheim residents. Wilfredo Sanchez is no relation to Francisco Sanchez.

Hunter said Wilfredo Sanchez and Carrillo may face charges in connection with the shooting. The adults arrested Thursday are being held in Orange County Jail and the juvenile at Orange County Juvenile Hall.
