CRENSHAW : New Credit Union to Open Wednesday
The South Central People’s Federal Credit Union, billed as the largest community development credit union ever chartered, is scheduled to open for business on Wednesday.
The credit union will operate from the offices of the Black Employees’ Assn., 5462 Crenshaw Blvd.
The credit union will be available to provide banking services to more than 600,000 people living and working in South and Central Los Angeles and the Crenshaw district.
As part of a community outreach program, volunteers from the Xerox Federal Credit Union, based in El Segundo, began training prospective employees last week. The Xerox volunteers will spend five to 10 days instructing six trainees as bank tellers, accountants and financial consultants.
