Arcadia : 911 Dispatch Services Merged

Share

The city of Arcadia’s emergency dispatch service will begin handling calls for Monrovia’s Fire Department on Monday.

The two cities agreed on the joint dispatching program last month in an effort to cut costs. Under the contract, Monrovia will pay Arcadia $60,000 for the service this year and $80,000 each additional year.

No jobs were added or lost in the deal because the Arcadia 911 center hired the three Monrovia dispatchers to fill three vacancies.

The two cities will still maintain separate fire departments, and officials said the merger will not affect service.
