B.E. Aerospace to Buy Nordskog for $17 Million

Nordskog Industries Inc., a Van Nuys maker of airline galleys, has agreed to be acquired by B.E. Aerospace of Wellington, Fla., for $17 million.

B. E. Aerospace is a large aircraft interiors manufacturer and a competitor of Nordskog in the airline galley market.

Privately held Nordskog was founded in 1951 by Robert A. Nordskog and his wife Elly. Nordskog claims to be the largest airline-galley maker in the United States. However, because of the decline in the airline industry, Nordskog has reduced the number of its employees to about 200 from more than 1,000 in recent years.

Robert Nordskog died about a year ago, and Elly Nordskog has been running the business since then. Last month, the company also sold its smaller electric-vehicle manufacturing business in Redlands. Jerry Nordskog, Elly’s son and president of the family’s publishing business, said the sale to B. E. Aerospace did not include the land and buildings in Van Nuys, which will be leased to B. E.
