Two children were slightly wounded Monday morning when bullets from a suspected drive-by shooting penetrated the front of their Long Beach home while they were asleep in the living room, police said.

A 13-year-old girl was struck in the side and her 7-year-old brother was hit in the arm during the 6 a.m. shooting in the 1000 block of East New York Street, Long Beach police spokeswoman Karen Kerr said. Both were treated at St. Mary Medical Center and released.

Police believe the incident was gang-related but are uncertain whether the occupants of the home were targets or random victims. No one witnessed the shooting and police have no suspects, said Sgt. Richard Williams.
