SIMI VALLEY : Bowling Contest to Kick Off City Festival

Share

A bowling tournament this weekend will kick off Simi Valley Days, a series of community festivals and contests that runs through Sept. 22.

The opening event is a “no-tap” tournament, meaning that knocking down nine pins on a first ball will be scored as a strike. The event will be held at Harley’s Simi Bowl, 480 E. Los Angeles Ave.

Part of the proceeds from the tournament will benefit the Simi Valley Days organization and the bowling alley’s youth league.

Bowlers will pay $20 for their first three-game series in the tournament. The cost will be $18 for all subsequent series bowled by the same entrant. Bowlers may enter as often as they like.

A $1,000 first prize will be awarded for the highest score in a three-game series. Second prize is $500. The woman bowler with the highest score will receive a minimum of $250.

Competition times are 2, 4 and 6 p.m. Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Sept. 11. A last-chance competition period--only for bowlers who have competed earlier in this year’s tournament--will be held at 8 p.m. Sept. 11.
