Re “Study Raises Concerns Over Handling of Medicare Claims,” Aug. 19:
Thank you for having solved a great mystery for those of us who must deal with Medicare on a daily basis. I am very much relieved by finding that Medicare is relying mostly on high school graduates with no medical training to make flash 72-second decisions on the validity of the medical claims submitted.
The Gore commission should waste no time to award Medicare the “reinventing our government” prize for having created so many instant claim-processing experts without spending a single tax cent for their training.
